The former boxing champion of the George Foreman maximum weights, who fought a memorable battle with Muhammad Ali before recovering the title two decades later, died yesterday at the age of 76. His family reported it. “With profound pain, we announce the disappearance of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr, who has gone serenely on March 21, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones”, reads the declaration.

“A man with great humanity, an Olympian and two times the world champion of the heavyweights, was deeply respected, a man of discipline, conviction and a protector of his inheritance, who fought tirelessly to preserve his name, for his family,” added the note. “We are grateful for the effusion of love and prayers and we kindly ask for privacy while we honor the extraordinary life of a man who we have had the good fortune to call our own,” says the family.
