During the afternoon of yesterday November 25th 2025 the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Section from the Territorial Department of Corigliano Rossano, as part of the activity carried out following the serious road accident which occurred along Via Nazionale, in the urban area of Mirto di Crosia, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Castrovillari, directed by the Chief Prosecutor Alessandro D’Alessio, arrested a 29-year-old local man, suspected of «road homicide».
Yesterday afternoon, in Mirto, along Via Nazionale, a very serious road accident occurred between a car and a three-wheeled vehicle, following which the driver of the latter died on the spot, despite the speed of rescue operations. The serious injuries sustained in the impact caused the death of the elderly person involved. The findings necessary to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident were carried out by the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Section of the Territorial Department. In this context, various investigations have been carried out, including technical ones. Reason why the driver of the car was accompanied to the Rossano hospital, where routine tests were carried out. The analyzes carried out by healthcare personnel made it possible to detect a «positivity» to the consumption of alcoholic substances, at a level higher than that permitted by law.
This circumstance, put in correlation with the other elements found during the investigations, allowed the Carabinieri to hypothesize and challenge the interested party’s hypothesis of «road homicide». Therefore, after being declared under arrest, the driver of the vehicle was placed under house arrest, where he will remain at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
