The condition of the man injured today with four stab wounds in Sibari is stable. This is a thirty-three-year-old local man hit with four blows, for reasons still being ascertained, by a man of foreign origin – probably from the Maghreb -. The episode apparently occurred just outside a bar located near the roundabout that leads to Sibari station. According to what emerged, it seems that the episode arose following an argument that began on Saturday evening. The two subjects, the Italian and the non-EU citizen, apparently had an argument – for reasons still unknown – which continued yesterday. Apparently, however, things seemed to have calmed down already on Saturday evening and the situation returned to normal. This morning, however, the two met again, it is not clear whether by chance or if they had arranged to meet for clarification which then degenerated into an argument which ended with the stabbing. The fact is that, at a certain point, the Maghreb would have pulled out a knife inflicting four blows on his rival who fell to the ground in a pool of blood. At that point the rescue machine was alerted: the 118 health workers of Cassano center and the air ambulance intervened on site and transferred the thirty-three year old to the “Annunziata” civil hospital in Cosenza. After the first strong concerns, his conditions were defined as stationary and the man was not in danger of dying. Fortunately, the stab wounds did not hit vital organs, affecting only superficial tissues with copious blood loss. In any case, the thirty-three-year-old will still be kept under observation and if his conditions remain stable even in the following hours he could be discharged today or tomorrow.
The Carabinieri of the Cassano Company who promptly intervened on the spot will take care of clarifying exactly how the events happened. Captain Michele Ornelli’s detectives, coordinated by the head of Castrovillari prosecutors, Alessandro d’Alessio, are hunting the immigrant who lives in the countryside.
