From Casali del Manco, in the heart of Cosenza’s Presila, to the French Riviera. And now even further, to the United States. «I exist but I don’t live», a cinematographic work dedicated to the theme of sexuality told through the point of view of a young man with disabilities, continues its international journey.
In 2025 the film was officially selected for the Entre Deux Cannes International Festival. A year later comes a new milestone: «I Exist but I Don’t Live» was selected at the Newport Beach Film Festival, in California, and will be screened overseas during the 2026 edition. The screening is currently scheduled for the evening of Monday 19 October, a date still awaiting definitive confirmation from the organization.
A true story about sexuality and disability
Inspired by a true story, «I exist but I don’t live» was born from an idea by Davide Carpino and is written, directed and produced by Marco Martire, for a Creavità Automatica production.
At the center of the work there is an intimate and direct look at the right to sexuality, affectivity and desire lived through the experience of disability. A story born from the desire to bring to the screen a human reality about which cinema, and society more generally, still have a lot to tell.
The cast and screening in California
The cast, alongside the protagonist Davide Carpino, includes Angela Ferlaino and Franca Guarino, among others. The photography is signed by Giuseppe Vottari, the music by Andrea Bauleo, while Caterina Misasi signs the assistant direction, together with the work of the entire crew who contributed to the creation of the work.
The film project started by Casali del Manco, after the selection at Entre Deux Cannes, is thus preparing to cross the Atlantic to arrive in California.
The presence of director Marco Martire at the screening remains, at the moment, to be defined due to commitments linked to the film projects currently in production. In case of his absence, his partner, Piero Stillitano, executive producer from Los Angeles, will represent him.
