Two project proposals for the establishment of as many ITS Foundations (Higher Technological Institutes) originate from Confartigianato Imprese Calabria, in response to the notice published by the Calabria Region.

The two proposed foundations concern the “Home and Built Environment” and “Fashion and Goldsmith Art” systems, with the aim of training highly specialized technicians in two key sectors for the regional economy: on the one hand green construction and intelligent buildings, on the other traditional textile and goldsmith workmanship, reinterpreted in an innovative and sustainable way.

Confartigianato has gathered around itself a large and qualified network of companies, universities, research bodies and training bodies, to respond to a growing demand for specialized technicians that companies struggle to find on the job market.

The objective is twofold: to fill the gap in technical skills which currently slows down the growth of businesses and, at the same time, to offer new employment opportunities to young Calabrians, enhancing the link between training and the productive world.

An added value of the proposals promoted by Confartigianato is represented by the involvement of Calabrian universities – the University of Calabria (UNICAL) and the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria (UNIRC) – who have made their experience and scientific expertise available to contribute to the definition of innovative training courses consistent with market needs.

The Experimental Station for the Leather and Tanning Materials Industry (SSIP), a prestigious research organization from Campania which will offer its technical and scientific support to develop high-level training contents, also joined the proposal relating to the Fashion system.

In both partnerships, Confartigianato operated in close synergy with universities and businesses to outline concrete and far-sighted projects, capable of combining innovation, creativity and tradition.

The objective is to redevelop the historical production sectors of the region, raising the technical-professional level of the workers and enhancing the competitiveness of Calabrian companies through targeted, quality training.

«Higher technical training – underlines the president of Confartigianato Imprese Calabria, Salvatore Ascioti – represents today one of the most effective strategic levers for building a solid future for young people and for our businesses. Only through collaboration between the world of production, research and training can we truly generate development, innovation and qualified employment in our region.”
