The members of the Italian Federation of Environment and Bicycle (FIAB) Cosenzaciclabile will participate in the Ionian-Tyrrhenian crossing called “From sunrise to sunset” today Friday 19 and Saturday 20 July 2024. The event includes a 100-kilometer route from Sibari to Belvedere Marittimo, which will allow cyclists to explore the historical and natural beauties of the province of Cosenza.

The departure will be today at 17:39 with a train to Sibari. Once arrived at the train station, participants will reach the Regional Reserve “Foce del Crati” by bike, following the paths of the coastal dune.

On Saturday, July 20, the day will begin before dawn with a refreshing swim on the beach of Sibari. After a quick breakfast, the group will depart towards Terranova da Sibari, crossing the peach groves of Spezzano Albanese and heading towards the waterfalls of San Giovanni in the territory of San Sosti for a regenerating break. In the afternoon, the journey will continue to Belvedere Marittimo, where the arrival is expected around 7:00 pm. Here, a swim at sunset will conclude the day of cycling.

The president of FIAB Cosenza, Marcello Carbone, underlined the importance of the train+bike intermodality, made possible thanks to the support of Trenitalia, which allows you to visit Calabria without using a car. The region is the only one in Italy that allows you to swim in two different seas on the same day, offering a unique experience. The 100-kilometer route includes about 1,400 meters of altitude difference and extends between coasts, mountains, plains, fields and towns, offering numerous surprises linked to the history of Calabria.

Carbone invited all bicycle lovers to participate in future initiatives of FIAB Cosenza, emphasizing the non-competitive spirit of the excursions, which allow you to appreciate the scents and beauty of the places you pass through.
