President Claudio Aloisio paints an increasingly gloomy picture: «The market has changed radically. We have two big players, online and physical commerce, which target the same consumers but operate with completely different rules and taxes. On the one hand, global platforms that can offer unlimited discounts and enjoy often more favorable tax systems, on the other, shops that must comply with obsolete rules and a much heavier tax burden. It is a distortion that penalizes local trade and favors digital platforms.”
