The carabinieri of the Melito Porto Salvo Company, in Reggino, arrested a 47-year-old man held responsible for the attempted murder, aggravated by futile motives, of a 40-year-old man. The attack took place inside a bar in Saline Joniche where the suspect hit the victim with a cutting object, causing a deep wound to his throat. The investigation, coordinated by the Reggio Calabria prosecutor’s office, arose from the report of the doctors at the Melito Porto Salvo hospital, who noted that the wound was not compatible with what was initially reported by the victim, that she had injured herself by falling on shards of glass in her home.
From the reconstruction of the investigators it emerged that the injured man was in the bar together with other people, including the suspect, and that, following an argument, the latter attacked him from behind, hitting him in the throat. The injured man, realizing the severity of the injury, went to the emergency room independently, while the suspect remained unavailable.
The soldiers found him in his home. He is now in the Reggio Calabria prison, at the disposal of the judicial authorities. The arrest order was confirmed by the investigating judge and the 47-year-old was placed in precautionary custody in prison.
