Theater has always played a fundamental role in the cultural and social growth of a territory, acting as a catalyst for knowledge, reflection and dialogue. In fact, through its representations, the theater offers a space for artistic expression that allows us to explore universal themes such as love, justice, suffering and hope, creating a bridge between past and present. The stories staged always contribute to preserving local traditions and stimulating a sense of collective identity, strengthening the bond between people and their cultural environment. Furthermore, from a social point of view, theater promotes ‘inclusion and community cohesion, encouraging active participation and the comparison of ideas.
In fact, the shows, in addition to entertaining and exciting, stimulate public debate and raise public awareness on relevant issues, such as social justice or cultural diversity. Furthermore, theater serves as a platform for developing personal skills, such as communication, creativity and critical thinking, especially among young people, who can benefit from educational experiences both as spectators and actors. Not to be overlooked is the fact that the theater has a positive impact on the local economy, attracting cultural tourism and creating job opportunities for artists, technicians and operators in the sector. In summary, theater is an engine of growth for the social and cultural fabric, stimulating reflection, participation and the evolution of a community.
Precisely on these lines is the starting line the 2024-2025 theater review of the Mandanici Theatre which presents itself with a very respectable program thanks also to the collaboration provided by the Municipality of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, Eventi Olimpo and HM Managemente.
He is the artistic director Dr. Fabio Portaroto explain the meaning of this theatrical season: «With the imminent opening of the theatrical season at the Teatro Mandanici, the city of Barcelona, with this initiative, can return to the center of attention of numerous fans of the theatrical genre who, often, do not they missed out on their valid and consistent contribution. The container set up for the 2024-2025 season consists of 9 show appointmentsall of national and in some cases also international level. To make the general interest more appealing, HM Management in collaboration with Eventi Olimpo have selected various theatrical works, ranging from brilliant comedy to musicals, from flamenco ballet to the comedy genre and ending with serious theatre. There are various well-known characters who are part of it: the opening of the programme, scheduled for Sunday 17 November, will feature the acclaimed actor from Catania Pippo Pattavina who performs in the “Rape of the Sabine Women” to continue on December 5th with the authoritative presence of Francesco Pannofinoa favorite of the Italian public, in the brilliant comedy “Chi è io?”. 2025 opens with the third event of the season, Saturday 1 February, when the actor appears on the Mandanici stage Maurizio Casagrande who proposes a very entertaining theatrical piece of his own entitled “The Father’s Journey”. More laughter and fun at the very talented show Valentina Persia in his comic monologue “What are you laughing at?” set for February 21st, to continue on February 25th with the show “Il toymaker” in which the protagonist is Francesca Chillemi, true hostessmuch appreciated by the local public.
March includes 3 shows with an alternation of genres starting from the demanding theatrical work “Story of a blackcap” with Enrico Guarneri and Nadia De Lucaa well-tested pair capable of convincing even the most refined palates, scheduled for March 13th. Three days later, on March 16, we host a show of international importance with the performance of the flamenco star, the Spaniard Sergio Bernalwhich will fascinate the Barcelona public, together with the Dance Company, with “A night with Sergio Bernal”, a fascinating proposal inspired by gypsy culture, and then attend, on March 29, the comedian’s eagerly awaited performance on the Messina stage Ezio Greggioa showman much loved by Italians, who proposes “A life on the screen”. To end the Mandanici program in style, Saturday 24 May includes a musical show for adults and children “Beauty and the Beast”. We believe it is a season of the highest level which we hope will greatly entertain our audience who we are certain will not fail to appreciate the quality proposed in this edition, ensuring a substantial presence in the welcoming space of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto”.
