With a strong and bright writing on an ATAM bus, Reggio Calabria also joins the memory of Sara Campanella, the 22 -year -old killed in Messina on March 31 for having said “no” to one of his peers. Almost a month after the tragic femicide, The mayor Giuseppe Falcomatà wanted to pay homage to the young woman with a message that became a symbol of freedom and self -determination: “I love myself too much to be with anyone”.
Resuming the initiative of the Municipality of Messina, the Reggina administration has decided to dedicate a bus to the memory of Sara, so that its name is not forgotten and its voice, written on social media shortly before she died, continues to resonate against all forms of violence. «Sara’s story – wrote Falcomatà on social media – is also that of many other girls killed before and after her. We cannot accept that all this becomes “normal” or be archived as an accident ».
The mayor launched a direct message to young women: «You are not sun. If something is wrong, call 1522. We are on your side ». An invitation to the complaint, but also a warning to the whole society: violence, physical or psychological, must never prevail. And that message of Sara, now imprinted on a bus in the running, becomes a daily flag of respect, choice and freedom.
