Four more convictions requested on appeal in the trial of the Anello clan of Philadelphia: the prosecutor Raffaela Sforza has in fact asked the judges to overturn two acquittals and confirm the first degree sentence for two other defendants. This is the well-known “Imponimento” trial, linked to the investigation conducted by the DDA of Catanzaro and which sees 66 defendants, judged with ordinary rite, accused of being an active part in the illicit activities of the aforementioned Anello clan and allied consortiums, operating in a wide swathe of territory between the Vibonese area, the Lamezzo hinterland and part of the Catanzaro hinterland, and the related alleged connections with the “white collar workers” of the province of Vibo.
The deputy general prosecutor therefore asked for the two defendants Oreste Vona, from Petilia Policastro, and Mario Galati, from Polia (head of the UTC), respectively 4 years of imprisonment and 800 euro fine for the first and 2 years and 400 euro fine for the second, while for Salvatore Zungri, from Rizziconi (Rc), he requested confirmation of 4 years and 4 months. Furthermore, he asked the Court of Appeal to leave unchanged the verdict against Alfredo Papa, from Lucera (Fg) to 10 years of imprisonment.
Punishment requests that are added to that of last December 10 when the prosecutor asked the judges to overturn the verdict of acquittal against, among others, Francescantonio and Emanuele Stillitani, the former municipal councilor of Vibo Francescantonio Tedesco, and the former mayor of Cenadi Alessandro Teti, calling for more incisive sentences for those who in the first instance had received a few years of imprisonment, such as the former councilor of Polia Giovanni Ring. New hearing on February 10th.
