In the Maldives the team that saved 12 children in Thailand: Finnish cave divers specialized in high-risk interventions

A team of experts who have managed hundreds of rescue interventions around the world since 1983. Complex and often risky actions such as that of June 2018, when 12 very young footballers were stranded due to a sudden flood in the Tham Luang cave.

The group was rescued after 18 days thanks to an exceptional international operation which also included Dan Europe, a medical and safety foundation but also insurance for divers, with Italian headquarters in Roseto degli Abruzzi. A team of expert tech divers and speleo divers, made up of Finns, will intervene from Monday in the Alimathà caves in an attempt to locate the bodies of the four Italians still missing.

Forty years of Diving Safety in the world

For over forty years, Dan Europe has offered medical assistance and scientific research, but also organizes safety initiatives promoting conscious diving practices and environmental responsibility. «Diving Safety» activities at a global level: the team records and manages thousands of cases every year, in the order of 1,600-1,800 accidents per year.

Medical centers open 24 hours a day

In concrete terms, the Foundation’s contribution translates into highly specialized operational interventions: medical centers active 24 hours a day coordinate rescue in cases of underwater emergencies, providing immediate information to rescuers in the field and to local health centers. In critical situations, such as accidents in caves or remote environments, Dan supports the management of evacuations, identifies the most suitable hyperbaric structures and ensures the connection between the technical teams and specialized medical personnel.

After the emergency: monitoring, data and research

A key role is also played in the post-accident phase, with patient monitoring, root cause analysis and data collection, which feed scientific research and contribute to improving safety procedures. A discreet but fundamental presence, often far from the spotlight, which accompanies the most complex operations, guaranteeing advanced medical skills and an international assistance network capable of intervening anywhere in the world.
