On Saturday 25 October 2025, at 9.30 am, the Municipality of Plataci will host the XXVIII edition of “Itinerari Gramsciani”, an event which this year takes on a particular meaning: to remember the work and civil commitment of the Honorable Mario Brunetti, who passed away on 11 August 2024.
The initiative, promoted by the Municipality in collaboration with the Istituto Mezzogiorno Mediterraneo – Brunetti Foundation and the Pro Loco of Plataci, intends to open a discussion on common actions for the future of small communities, with a special look aimed at the arbëreshë realities and the centers of the Upper Ionian.
The conference, entitled “Where we were… Common actions to undertake for the future of our communities”, also marks the restart of the activities of the Brunetti Foundation, wanted by the family to relaunch the commitment and ideas of the founder.
«After a period of pause – declared Saverio Brunetti, president of the Foundation – we are happy to announce the restart of our Institute, motivated to resume the interrupted path and convinced that everyone’s contribution will be fundamental to achieving our objectives».
The meeting will be attended by, among others, Pietro Stamati, mayor of Plataci, Lucia Brunetti, delegate for cultural policies of the Municipality, the journalist Arbër Agalliu, author of the documentary UDHA, and numerous teachers and scholars: Franco Altimari, Costantino Basile, Nicola Bavasso, Mario Bolognari, Mimmo Cersosimo, Maria De Paola, Damiano Guagliardi, Matteo Mandalà and Pino Nano (remotely connected).
The event is proposed as a space for reflection and cultural rebirth, in the name of the moral and political legacy of Mario Brunetti, a figure who dedicated his life to the development of Southern Italy and the valorization of local identities.
