Justice and innovation: Taobuk hosts the debate on the reform and use of artificial intelligence in the judicial system

The reform of justice continues to represent a crucial node in the Italian political agenda, and the next two years will be decisive for the achievement of the objectives shared with the European Union. In particular, it is aimed at reducing the times of civil and criminal proceedings, as well as the complete digitization of the first degree criminal trial by 2025. In this scenario of profound change, the city of Taormina has become the scene of a prominent event dedicated to these issues, hosting a moment of international comparison under the Italian presidency of the G7.

At the center of the debate, also the use of artificial intelligence in the judicial sector, an innovation that raises questions but also great opportunities for more efficient, accessible and transparent justice. To open the meeting was the reading “beyond the borders”, conceived by D’Artventi with the artistic direction and the reduction of the text by Daniela Ursino. The event proposed a selection of thoughts and writings of the prisoners involved in the theatrical workshops of the district houses of Messina and Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto.

An intense reflection on the transformative power of scenic art and its re -educational value within the prison path. The institutional greetings were entrusted to the mayor of Taormina, Cateno De Lucawhile the central moment of the meeting saw the intervention of the Minister of Justice, Carlo Nordioin dialogue with the journalist Elvira Terranova (Adnkronos).

At the center of the discussion, the challenges of the digitization of justice and the ethical and practical implications of the introduction of artificial intelligence in the courtrooms. The event was enriched with the participation on the scene of some prisoners-officers of the free company of the theater to dream of the district house of Messina, flanked by the free company of being free, formed by students of the University of Messina. The performance was embellished with the violinist’s musical accompaniment Daniele Testacreating a bridge between justice, culture and social inclusion.
