South Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun, famous for his role in the film “Parasite” which triumphed at the 2020 Oscars, was found dead from a suspected suicide. This was reported by the South Korean agency Yonhap. The 48-year-old actor was found inside a vehicle in the center of the capital Seoul, Yonhap cited police as saying. Lee Sun-kyun he was under investigation by the police because he was suspected of using cannabis and other psychotropic drugs. The scandal had tarnished his image as a successful actor, depriving him of television appearances and advertising contracts, according to several South Korean media. The actor had appeared in several feature films by director Hong Sang-soo, including «Haewon and the Men» in 2013. With «Parasite», directed by Bong Joon-ho, he achieved international fame, playing the role of a father of a wealthy family, who at his own expense becomes closer to the poor family for whom he employs. His latest film, «Sleep», where he plays the role of a sleepwalking husband who terrorizes his wife, was presented, out of competition, at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, in the «Critics’ Week» category.
