Louvre robbery, Napoleon’s jewels stolen. The thieves used a freight elevator and closed the museum

Robbery at the Louvre Museum in Paris, which will remain closed for the whole day. This was announced by the French Ministry of Culture. The thieves allegedly stole nine pieces from Napoleon and the Empress’ jewelery collection, including a necklace, a brooch and a tiara. Le Parisien reports it. The jewels were on display in the showcases dedicated to Napoleon and the French Sovereigns in the Galleria d’Apollon.

The robbery occurred this morning at the opening of the great Parisian museum. According to witnesses, the robbers would have used a goods lift to get to the first floor, writes Le Figaro. An investigation is underway.

“This morning a robbery occurred at the opening – says the minister, Rachida Dati, in a tweet – No injuries were reported. I am present on site together with the museum staff and the police”
