Green light from the Regional Council of Calabria for the allocation of 100 thousand euros in favor of the relatives of the victims of the Amendolara massacre. The provision, contained in the Variation to the Region’s financial forecast budget for the years 2026-2028, was adopted to “guarantee respect for the dignity of the victims, the necessary support for their families, ensuring extraordinary interventions aimed at supporting the expenses related to the needs of the families of the victims”. These include “travel, food, accommodation and transfer expenses incurred to reach Calabria for the completion of the procedures related to the recognition and repatriation of the remains”.
The law establishes a specific budget chapter with a technical coverage of 100 thousand euros. The allocation was foreseen on a prudential basis, in order to guarantee the immediate availability of the sums necessary to cover the expenses related to the assistance of the victims’ families, funerals, any transfers and repatriations of the bodies, as well as any other closely related need. The amount of 100 thousand euros therefore represents the coverage of the new budget chapter and does not automatically correspond to the sum that will actually be used, which will be determined on the basis of concrete needs and the expenses that will actually be incurred.
