In the great hall of the University of Messina, as part of the general assembly of the associates of the Unitre-Aps of Messina, the rector Giovanna Spatari presented a plaque of gratitude and recognition to Prof. Vittorio Nicita Mauro for his 39 years of teaching, purely on a voluntary basisof the course regarding “Medicine for well-being and active aging”, with “Thoughts and advice for the Third Age”, collected, moreover, in a book with the same title, Rubbettino editions, 2014.
Vittorio Nicita Mauro was full professor of geriatrics and gerontology and director of the geriatric medicine clinic at the University of Messina until 2008. He directed the specialization school in geriatrics at the University of Messina for several academic years. He was president of the Sicilian section of the Italian society of gerontology and geriatrics from 1997 to 2001. He is the author of over 350 scientific publications, in national and international journals, relating to topics of geriatrics, cardioangiologyhealth and aging education.
