The victim of the crime is a motorcyclistThe accident occurred last night in via Garibaldiat the traffic lights in front of the Prefecture. Yet another road tragedy occurred around 9.30pm near the house where the Neptune fountain stands. Giuseppe Ingemi, 55 years old, lost his life. The man he was riding a motorcycle, a Harley DavidsonSportster model which, for reasons that are being ascertained, probably crashed into a public lighting pole. There was nothing that could be done for the unfortunate motorcyclist, he died practically instantly.

The rescuers of an 118 ambulance, which arrived shortly after, tried to resuscitate him. Unfortunately every attempt was unsuccessful. In the meantime, a municipal police patrol arrived with commander Giovanni Giardina who started the first investigations. The officers of the accident section of the municipal police carried out investigations to clarify the trajectory followed by the motorcycle. The dynamics are still being ascertained.

It appears, from initial investigations, that it was an independent accident. According to an initial reconstruction, the motorcyclist came from Viale della Libertà and was entering Via Garibaldi, when the motorbike swerved fearfully as it reached the quay, and then collided with one of the light poles located in the house surrounding the Neptune fountain. First aid was provided by some passers-by and motorists, who stopped and requested the intervention of a 118 ambulance. The investigations to reconstruct the dynamics continued until late in the evening.

Testimonies were also collected from some people who were near the Neptune fountain at the time of the tragic accident. A contribution to the reconstruction of the dynamics could also come from the surveillance cameras located in that area. A well-lit road traveled by thousands of motorists every day. The frames of images recorded by cameras in the area could be very important to clarify the trajectory followed by the Harley Davidson motorcycle, and probably also the speed at which the centaur was proceeding.

The body was then taken to the mortuary at the disposal of the judicial authorities. The magistrate on duty will decide whether or not to carry out the autopsywhile the motorbike was seized.

In September, on the opposite road, still near the Prefecture, another motorcyclist, Massimiliano Costa, a 44-year-old hairdresser, lost his life. However, the accident occurred on the opposite side of the entrance to Villa Mazzini, next to the Prefecture building. The man was on a scooter which collided with a car. He had been transported by emergency ambulance to the emergency room of the Polyclinic, where unfortunately he died shortly afterwards.
