A safer, modern and inclusive school: this is the goal of the metropolitan city of Messina in the process of redeveloping the building that hosts The “Leonardo da Vinci” ittet of Milazzo.
An ambitious project, with a total value of 3,233,424.24 eurosfor which the tender has already been published.
The companies concerned can participate until 14:00 on 24 July 2025.
The intervention is part of a context of particular value: In fact, the building falls into an area subject to archaeological and landscape bond. Precisely for this reason, before the start of the excavation operations – necessary to install new emergency stairs – the project will be subjected to the approval of the Superintendence for Cultural Heritage of Messina.
The current conditions of the property, which emerged from a careful technical analysis, highlight different critical issues: infiltrations, degradation of facades, systems now overcome, inadequate services for people with disabilities. The answer is a coordinated set of interventions that aim to improve the functionality of the structure and make it compliant with the most recent regulations on safety, environmental sustainability and accessibility.
The windows will be replaced with fixtures with high thermal insulation and safety glasses, apply reflective films, restore the facades and installed a new rainwater collection system. The false ceilings will also be renovated and all the internal fixtures, including those with anti -panic devices.
Among the most significant interventions appear The installation of a new air conditioning system for summer and winter, an advanced air treatment system and the adoption of high efficiency lighting bodies. The entire electrical network and the fire system, including fire extinguishers, pumping system and hydrant network will also be renewed.
Great attention also to the overcoming of architectural barriers: access ramps will be installed, the toilets for people with disabilities will be adequate and two new elevators positioned to facilitate internal mobility.
“School is the engine of our future and the place where the consciences and skills of the new generations are formed. Interventions such as this are not only an investment in construction, but in social growth and sustainability – said the Metropolitan mayor of Messina, Federico Basile.- Because through the regeneration of strategic buildings such as the Da Vinci Institute, we are building a school network at the height of the challenges of our times, more inclusive, more inclusive.
With this project, the metropolitan city of Messina confirms its commitment to improve the school heritage, combining the protection of the landscape, technological innovation and attention to the needs of students and school staff. A concrete opportunity to transform the school into a more welcoming and resilient space, for the benefit of the entire community “.
