Moments of fear this morning for a sport fisherman from Milazzo who found himself in serious difficulty while he was at sea about three and a half miles from Capo Milazzo. The man raised the alarm on the emergency number 1530 after realizing that his boat was taking on water and risked sinking.
The Milazzo Coast Guard intervened quickly with the CP875 patrol boat, maintaining constant radio contact with the fisherman until he was found. Once reached, the man was rescued: he was exhausted but in good condition.
The military then used an on-board pump to empty the water and prevent the boat from sinking near the Marine Protected Area of Capo Milazzo, finally managing to escort it to the port for safety.
