The city of Milazzo has its first museum. It is the Mu.ma, an acronym for the Museum of the sea which until now was an exhibition space inside the castle, albeit known in Italy and abroad, and which has now been officially included in the national museum system of the Ministry of Culture. In recent days, the Decree of the Directorate General Museums was notified to the founder of the Mu.ma, Carmelo Isgrò.
For the acquisition of the accreditation, the Muma has shown that it possesses the 202 minimum requirements of the uniform levels of quality for the museums of public belonging and has undergone examination of the Commission for the National Museum System, which is the body that deals with the accreditation and formula proposals for the inclusion of the sites deserving in the special list of the Ministry.
