Sad, lonely and final. Giuseppe Falcomatà ends his adventure as mayor like the famous novel by Osvaldo Soriano: a melancholic and definitive acceptance of the end of a story, with the bittersweet aftertaste of the mockery of a city council in which the majority that supported mayor Falcomatà has melted away and the center-right (despite having the right numbers in hand) was careful not to vote against. The councilors of the Democratic Party and those of Rinascita Comune did not enter the Chamber in clear disagreement with the mayor’s latest decisions, confirming the vulnerability that threatens the last months of this Administration. And Angela Marcianò photographed the last days of Falcomatà impeccably: «Even in the credits the show is confirmed as painful. And this is the only trace of coherence that I recognize in the Falcomatà administration. The city has been living for too many years in a condition of fog generated by a merciless and sterile egocentrism. We played at administration like children do with the PlayStation to credit themselves with points in distorted contexts, divorced from any reality. A decade of opinionated “political autarky” leaving a terrible legacy due to frayed credibility. But, what is worse is the terrible example that remains for the new generations, of a politics that feeds on clientele and which, in 11 years, has never rewarded merit and competence but only arrogance, boastfulness and improvisation. Therefore, our task is to overturn these logics: I invite all respectable people of Reggio not to give up and to personally contribute to writing another great story, the one that Reggio deserves and has been waiting for too long.” Game, set, match…
