The Court of Appeal, reforming the first instance sentence, acquitted Philip Giordano And Giuseppe Germanò «for not having committed the crime» from the accusation of mafia-type association, at the conclusion of a Carabinieri operation, coordinated by the anti-mafia district prosecutor’s office of Reggio Calabria. Giordano and Marcianò had been involved in the ‘All in’ investigation of June 2022, which arose from the ‘ndrangheta feud for the control and management of illegal businesses in the ‘Gallico’ district, on the northern outskirts of the city. At first instance, the judge at the preliminary hearing had sentenced Filippo Giordano to ten years in prison and Giuseppe Germanò to eight years, a sentence now overturned by the judges of appeal. Furthermore, the Board of Appeal declared the loss of effectiveness of the precautionary measures applied to the two defendants, ordering their immediate release if not detained for another reason.
