“We have sent a letter to the Minister of Business and Made in Italy Urso and to the Minister of Labor and Social Policies Calderone on behalf of all the deputies and senators, Calabrian and Sicilian, of the M5S and the Democratic Party, in which we ask to be able to participate at the table on the Abramo Customer Care dispute announced on social media by President Occhiuto which should be held on November 5th” say the Calabrian deputy and coordinator of the 5 Star Movement Anna Laura Orrico and the senator Nicola IrtoCalabrian secretary of the Democratic Party.
“We are strongly concerned – say the two parliamentarians – by the fate of the thousand workers of Abramo Customer Care, located between Calabria and Sicily, who, in the past and in the last few hours, have conveyed to us the drama of the story that they have been experiencing for too long now marked by uncertainty and the fear of permanently losing one’s job. The extraordinary commissioners communicated to the workers yesterday that from tomorrow, November 1st, they will all be on redundancy pay for 100% of their hours.
While, for three months, the same workers have not received the extraordinary redundancy fund. Furthermore, the decree that the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies is required to issue is missing. A difficult situation – continues the note – which is accompanied by the declarations of the President of the Calabria Region Occhiuto who announces a de facto solution specifically known by none of the social partners and workers’ representatives.
This is why – conclude Anna Laura Orrico and Nicola Irto – we hope that our request is accepted so that we can actively participate in the search for a solution worthy of the name for a dispute which, given the number of workers involved, must take on a national character ”.
