For the analysts of the Reggio anti-mafia pool, it is now acquired investigative data, found in multiple investigations which have become final convictions. TAmong the historical-judicial truths that have emerged in current affairs concerns the strong role of the Libri gang, the powerful with an operational base in the hilly Cannavò district but capable of expanding to the point of leadership over an important perimeter of southern Reggio: it is one of the four mafia souls that make up the so-called “directory” of the city’s ‘Ndrangheta, that sort of government that dominates economic and relational scenarios in the city center. A fact that emerges, reinforcing the concept, also from the reasons for the sentence of the “Black Book” appeal process (the line celebrated with an abbreviated procedure): «In the role of guarantor of compliance with the rules within the Province, so much so that when it is necessary to turn to “Archi” the word of Libri is also necessary, who is part of the aforementioned “supreme” leaders. The new balance between the local gangs, also based on the authority and power emanating from the clan, emerges, according to the judges of merit, from the results of the “Mammasantissima” operation which later merged into the “Gotha” in which an understanding acquired during the course of this proceeding and between today’s defendants was valorised, relating to the knowledge of the existence of a component of top men of the various Reggio associations, equipped with tax-making abilities and superior to the ‘Ndrangheta clans operational in the central mandate”.
