Among the essential New Year’s Eve rituals, free concerts in the evocative settings of the large Italian squares are among the most anticipated and loved. There is singing and dancing in many cities, starting from Crotone And Genoa, where the two events will take place with television coverage on Rai and Mediaset. After two years in Umbria, ‘The coming year’broadcast on Rai1, moves to Crotone, Calabria thanks to the agreement between Rai Com and the Calabria Film Commission Foundation. On the stage set up in Piazza Pitagora, Amadeus brings on stage, among others, Annalisa, Paola and Chiara, i Ricchi e Poveri, Il Volo, Sangiovanni, Nino Frassica, The Kolors, Cristiano Malgioglio, Dargen D’Amico, the Autogol and Maninni.
Shuttles and giant screens
The municipal administration of Crotone has announced all the services that will be provided on the occasion of the Rai New Year’s Eve. To cope with the expected influx of spectators, car parks have been provided outside the city at the southern and northern entrances: one available for those traveling along the state road 106 from Taranto or the state road 107 from Cosenza who will be able to park in a special square and the other for those traveling along the state road 106 from Catanzaro who can leave the car in another square. From these areas there is a shuttle service that will take people near the city center.
A shuttle service will also be established to ensure an adequate connection between the center and the peripheral districts of Tufolo and Farina. The buses will leave from via Sant’Andrea Apostolo near the Santa Maria Madre church and from Palakrò with stops along the way up to the San Domenico roundabout. The departures of the shuttle buses, both from the car parks outside the city and from the suburban areas, will take place from 5.30pm to 11.30pm on 31 December 2023 and subsequently from 1am to 4am on 1 January 2024. The shuttle service has a cost of 2.50 euros.
In the city it will be possible to park at the cruise terminal in via Miscello da Ripe, in Piazza Mantegna, the Court car park, the PalaMilone car park, the Ezio Scida stadium car park, the Borgata Giardini car park. From each of these areas there are pedestrian paths that allow you to reach the entrance to the event area. For buses, the arrival point is at the cruise terminal with access from via Miscello da Ripe. There will be 25 stalls (of which 7 already booked). In case of exhaustion of spaces, buses will be able to park in the square of the Ezio Scida stadium and, if necessary, also at the Romano bus terminal. For all patrons who are unable to reach the event area, two giant screens will be set up, one in Piazza della Resistenza and the other in Piazza Berlinguer.
The other events
And always in Calabria, there is also great anticipation in Cosenza and Corigliano Rossano where they will perform, respectively, Giorgia and Max Pezzali.
In Genoa, from Piazza De Ferrari, there will be Canale 5’s “New Year in Music” with Federica Panicucci, and many guests including Albano, Orietta Berti, Iva Zanicchi and Fausto Leali together with Leo Gassman, Michele Bravi, Louis Strangis and the special participation of the entire Amici school. During the live broadcast, connections will be opened with Piazza Libertà in Bari where Mariasole Pollio of Radio 105 will present the performances of Ermal Meta, Coez and Frah Quintale. Among the other events already confirmed there is the one in the capital where the concert is at the Circus Maximus, it is entitled ‘Roma 2024. You are here’ and features the names of Francesca Michielin, Blanco, Lazza and the hosting of Francesca Romana D’Andrea and Filippo Ferraro of RDS. Great anticipation in Mantua for Madame who will perform in Piazza Sordello. In Turin, on the stage set up in Piazza Castello, the countdown will take place with the producer Mace, while first it will be The Social State that will bring joy. The queen of pop Elodie will ensure fun in Piazza Ruggero Settimo in Palermo. Tananai and Mario Biondi, however, will share the stage of the “Christmas Catania Fest 2023-Christmas in the city” set up in Piazza Duomo in Catania.
On the other island, the duo Renga and Nek will be protagonists in Sassari, in Piazza d’Italia. Zucchero Fornaciari, however, will be the star of Olbia’s New Year’s Eve: the bluesman will arrive in Sardinia at the end of the American tour and will perform at the Brin pier where the rapper Salmo will also arrive. Marco Mengoni performs at the Cagliari Fair, fresh from his second victory in Sanremo of which he will be co-host of the first evening: the free show with a limited number of free tickets can be booked online, it can be followed on an external giant screen by those who cannot manage to book the ticket. In Siena, in Piazza del Campo, Emma Marrone arrives to warm up the night of the 31st. Also in Tuscany, in Pisa, the “New Year 2023 Celebration” event in Piazza dei Cavalieri offers a show in which the leading artists will be the DJ set of Albertino and the rapper Fabri Fibra.
