«Ten good things that will happen in Calabria in 2026». With a post published on social media, the president of the Calabria Region Roberto Occhiuto illustrated a series of objectives and goals that the regional administration aims to achieve during the year that has just begun.

Airports and infrastructure

Among the first points indicated by the governor is the new Reggio Calabria airport, followed by the expansion of the Lamezia Terme airport, with the launch of the new Ryanair hangars which, as highlighted, will bring around 300 new jobs. The “second part” of the modernization and adaptation works of the Lamezzo airport is also planned.

Occhiuto also announces “the further arrival of new trains” and the “start of work on State Road 106 in the Crotone-Catanzaro section”, one of the most awaited infrastructural interventions in Calabria.

Healthcare and work

Ample space is dedicated to healthcare. In the post, the president underlines that “health care is finally coming out of the commissionerate and freed from years of mismanagement”, also announcing “the arrival of other international doctors”, in addition to the Cuban ones already present, and the completion of the new Sibaritide hospital, together with the construction of community homes and hospitals.

Young people and villages

Among the measures aimed at young people, Occhiuto cites the 500 euro merit income, intended for Calabrian students who meet certain conditions, with the aim of encouraging them to stay in the area. The «Casa Calabra 100» project was also announced, a contribution of 100 thousand euros for those who choose to live in Calabrian villages.

“And it’s just the beginning”, concludes the President of the Region, suggesting that the list represents only a part of the initiatives planned for 2026.
