A blue dream that repeats itself. For the third time in its history and five years later, the Italian national beach soccer team is European champion. Emiliano Del Duca’s Azzurri, in the final, in the splendid setting of the San Giovanni seafront in Alghero, beat Spain, with a result of 5-4, at the end of a hard-fought match full of emotions. A victory that also speaks of Messina, with goalkeeper Sebastiano Paterniti, born in 1989, from Tortorici, who is one of the veterans of the Italian team and who recently wore the Sambenedettese Beach Soccer shirt.

But there is also a bit of Calabria in the European champion national team: Captain Emmanuele Zurlo, born in 1988, is from Catanzaro and plays in the First Category with ASD Martelletto Settingiano, while Alessandro Miceli, born in 1986, is from Amantea and wore the Sambenedettese Beach Soccer shirt with Paterniti. Furthermore, the attacker Zurlo, together with the finswimming champion Viola Magoga, was the flag bearer for Italy in the opening ceremony of the Mediterranean Beach Games in Heraklion.
