A meeting took place today between the secretaries of the PD circles in the province of Cosenza and the commissioner of the Federation Claudio Stefanazzi. The numerous interventions underlined the need to resume political action in the area, overcoming the divisions that have characterized the recent experience of the Cosenza PD Federation. There was an invitation from the secretaries to put aside personalism and rediscover the reasons for a shared commitment, which transmits to the territories the feeling of a party finally reconnected with people’s problems.
The numerous logistical and demographic problems make active participation in the life of the Party very complex, especially in smaller and more remote centres. This fact is more evident with reference to the participation of young people who are certainly not motivated by a party that appears divided. The secretaries underlined the peculiarities of the various territories, and the specific needs of the Tyrrhenian, Ionian and internal areas.
The opportunity to discuss issues such as healthcare was shared, especially with reference to the implementation of the local healthcare policy represented by hospitals and community homes. The need to discuss the issue of legality and safety was also shared, also in light of recent news events.
Finally, with reference to internal areas, the need to focus on the many problems that afflict small hilly and mountain towns was reiterated. Some thematic/territorial initiatives will be announced in the next few days.
Commissioner Stefanazzi concluded the meeting by thanking the secretaries for the effort they make daily to support the party’s action and recalled that the electoral challenges that the country will have to face are among the most difficult in republican history. The mobilization of PD militants and supporters is fundamental to prevent this right from rewriting the Constitution. Everyone must feel the responsibility of contributing to the construction of a democratic barrier that prevents the worst right of the post-war period from splitting Italy. The contribution that the province of Cosenza has always given to the Italian left must be the point of reference for restarting political action with enthusiasm, multiplying efforts to increase membership, to animate the clubs and to involve citizens in this beautiful and difficult battle for democracy.
