A penalty kick by Foggia, halfway through the first half, decided the match between Reggina and Scafatese. A particularly anticipated match because it pitted two of the contenders for the final victory of the championship against each other. The Campania team won, in a match in which the Amaranto team probably deserved to draw. However, Pergolizzi’s team had to blame themselves above all because the goal that decided everything came from a situation that could have been read better. Adejo’s foul that stopped Aliperta’s run instead became the episode that changed the outcome of the match once and for all. From that moment on, Reggina made every effort to hunt for the equalizer. They did so by often failing to find quality and speed of execution in the game, without making the Campania team’s defensive coverage impossible. The only one to stand out in midfield was Racine Ba, who in the first half played practically all over the pitch, also making himself noticed for his precision in long-distance passes. In the second half, Scafatese dropped back and chose to cover their goal. With a bit of luck, they managed to defend the result, resisting several circumstances in which Reggina could have achieved a draw. First Barranco from the edge, after a low exit by the opposing goalkeeper on Porcino, failed to find the goal from the edge. The Amaranto then asked for a goal on an intervention by goalkeeper Becchi who, stepping back, risked taking the ball into the net. Then Magri was the protagonist of a great save on the line on a header by Ragusa with the goal at his disposal and finally Renelus tried with a curling right-footed shot that ended just wide. Reggina’s home championship debut ended in defeat.
