Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, a company of the FS Italiane Group, has announced a tender worth approximately 1.3 billion euros for the execution of a program of systematic maintenance interventions on the railway infrastructure throughout the national territory, of which 37.1 million intended for interventions on the Calabria railway network.

The procedure is part of RFI’s broader investment plan for maintenance activities aimed at raising the reliability standards of the network. The Framework Agreement has a duration of three years. The interventions will be spread throughout the regional territory and will consist of: renewal of tracks, sleepers and ballasts as well as replacement of switches.

The modernization activities will guarantee an increase in the reliability of the infrastructure and an improvement in the rail transport service.

At a national level, the economic value of investments for 2024 is approximately 9 billion euros, while the average annual investment intended for maintenance interventions on its network amounts to 3.5 billion euros.
