The toll from the massive Russian attack on Kiev last night is one dead and at least forty injured. Damage to buildings was reported in numerous areas of the city. Russia used an Oreshnik medium-range missile, capable of carrying nuclear warheads, against Ukraine during massive and deadly nighttime bombings, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said. “Three Russian missiles hit a water infrastructure, a market was set on fire, dozens of residential buildings were damaged, several schools were destroyed and he (Russian President Vladimir Putin) launched his Oreshnik against Bila Tserkva. They are truly crazy,” Zelensky underlined in a message on Telegram.

Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko took stock of the damage in the city. In the Darnytsia district, he reports, a dormitory building, several non-residential premises, a gas station and some cars parked near a residential building were damaged by falling debris from drones and missiles. In the Obolonsky district, a drone hit a one-story private residential building. Also, following the impact of another drone near a three-story residential building, a fire broke out in an open area. “I express firm condemnation for the heavy Russian attack which once again hit civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, with the progressive increase in the level of armaments used. Our solidarity goes to the Ukrainian population, who for over four years has suffered the dramatic consequences of this war of aggression. We will continue to work with determination together with European and international partners to promote the path towards a just and lasting peace”. Thus Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in a statement.

“Russian attacks against civilian targets in Ukraine continue, as happened last night. France condemns this attack and the use of the Oreshnik ballistic missile, which above all demonstrate a further form of escalation and the dead end of the Russian war of aggression”, writes French President Emmanuel Macron on X. “Our determination to continue to support Ukraine, to do everything possible for a just and lasting peace and to strengthen the security of Europe only grows stronger,” he underlined.
