The degree was awarded in memory to Sara Campanella, the student from Misilmeri who was the victim of feminicide. The girl was attending the degree course in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques and was close to graduating, today she achieved that goal with a well-attended ceremony held at the Rector’s Office of the University. The classroom was packed with students and authorities. Sara’s parents, brother, colleagues and professors were present. A large photo with a heart of pink roses commemorates her.

“Today is a special, important day, a day that we had dreamed of living together with Sara, certainly in a different way. Sara has made many sacrifices in recent years to be able to achieve this goal. Today we are here to pay homage to her, a living memory, because Sara deserves to get her degree. We will always carry Sara’s light wherever we go” . Sara’s mother said. Moving words also from the rector Giovanna Spatari.

The initiative was preceded yesterday by an event dedicated to the theme of gender violence: the short film “Invisible Threads” was screened at the Apollo Cinema, directed by Fabio Schifilliti, produced by Gran Mirci Film and created as part of the “Oltre le ombre” project by the “ITT-LSSA Copernico” Institute of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto.
