With the traditional celebration of the Epiphany and the Adoration of the Magi, the 21st edition of the living nativity scene of Trappitello officially ended on Tuesday 6 January, organized by the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish – Santa Venera, led by the parish priest Don Tonino Tricomi. An event which, again this year, recorded an extraordinary participation, confirming itself among the most evocative and followed in Sicily.
Record turnout and numbers
The 2025-2026 edition has attracted thousands of visitors since its debut on 26 December, consolidating the role of the Trappitello living nativity scene as an identifying event for the Taormina area and a reference destination for tourists from all over the world. The avenues of the large garden of the ancient church of Santa Venera were transformed once again into an open-air Bethlehem, thanks to the commitment of over 250 participants and collaborators.

The value of community
The final balance highlights the strength of a project built on the sense of “We”. The Trappitello Nativity Scene is not the result of the work of a few, but the fruit of a collective effort that saw hundreds of volunteers dedicate their time, energy and skills for months. Behind every scene, every hut and every glimpse lies the silent sacrifice of a community that has chosen to put itself at service.
Attention to detail and suggestion
The attention to detail is particularly appreciated by visitors: from costumes to the reconstruction of ancient crafts, from large structures to working machines, up to sensory elements such as fire, smoke and the scent of freshly baked bread. A whole capable of creating a visual harmony that transformed the journey into an immersive experience.
A message that goes beyond the show
Beyond the scenographic aspect, the living nativity scene confirmed its profound spiritual dimension. Not just a historical representation, but a true journey of the spirit, witnessed by the silence and recollection of visitors in front of the Nativity, a sign of a message of peace and brotherhood that goes beyond the event.
Thanks and see you next year
The organization expressed heartfelt thanks to all the participants, volunteers, technicians and collaborators, as well as the police, the municipal administration and all those who contributed to logistics management and safety. The success of the living nativity scene in Trappitello represents the victory of an entire community that has been able to humble itself to become great.
The appointment is already set for next year, with the same passion and the same desire to tell the Lord’s Christmas together.
