The Vela Messina coach easily wins the top clash of group 2 of the A1 men’s team tennis championship against a Selva Alta Vigevano team that arrived on the shores of the Strait with a reshuffled lineup.
Everything was easy for captain Francesco Caputo’s team who, thanks to this success, took first place in the group with one round to spare and qualified for the championship semi-finals. A prestigious result for the club chaired by Antonio Barbera who now dreams of reaching the final in Turin scheduled for 9 and 10 December.
There is also the name of another semi-finalist, namely the Palermo coach, first in group 3. Two Sicilians, therefore, in the running for the 2023 tennis tricolour.
There is very little to tell about today’s match against Selva Alta. Coach Vela re-presented the victorious team in recovery in Pistoia and the matches all ended in two sets in favor of the home players. The match took place on the indoor pitch, as the rain that fell in the morning made the outdoor pitches impassable.
Only the match between the two number 1s of the day, Marco Trungelliti and Roberto Marcora, was more balanced, with Trungelliti ending it with a double 6-4. For the rest, the successes of the Frenchman Maxime Janvier on Conti and of the brothers Fausto and Giorgio Tabacco, on Beraldo and Dadda respectively, were easy.
Next Sunday, on the last day of the regular season, the Peloritani will host Tc Parioli, last in the class. The Scudetto playoffs will start immediately afterwards with Coach Vela once again the protagonist.
