The man suspected of attacking three women with a knife today in the Paris subway was arrested late this afternoon. Around 4pm, a man “attacked three women with a knife on line 3 of the metro, in succession at the Rèpublique, Arts et Mètiers and Opèra stations”, explained the prosecutor’s office. He was able to be identified “thanks to the video surveillance images”: “the implementation of the geolocation of his mobile phone allowed his arrest in the late afternoon in the Val d’Oise”, specified the same source. The prosecutor’s office was unable to immediately specify the severity of the victims’ injuries.
The terrorism trail has been ruled out
According to a police source, the hypothesis of terrorism has been ruled out. It appears to be the work of a mentally unstable individual, or at least someone in a fragile mental state.
