«We do not carry weapons or bombs. We bring the right to health, the right to life.” Strong words expressed by the ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Italy, Jorge Luis Cepero Aguilar, present together with the Cuban consul Arasay D’Angelo Pereira at the public meeting “Public Health Universal Law” promoted by the Italy-Cuba Association of Catanzaro in the Concert Hall of the Municipality.
In the current difficult scenario, which sees a further restriction of supplies to the island of Cuba by the United States, the event underlines the universal right to public health, focusing on the critical issues and concern for the health system of the region which today sees the use of Cuban doctors to avoid its collapse.
“We want to thank the Cuban doctors and we want to say that the meeting between President Roberto Occhiuto and the US ambassador in charge d’affaires in Cuba, Mike Hammer, is an inappropriate interference”, the secretary of the association Pino Commodar introduced the meeting, referring to the meeting which took place last February 23 and about which Occhiuto denied the breakdown of the collaboration with the Cuban doctors.
