The bonus for private schools is arriving, up to 1500 euros per family in 2026: here’s who is entitled to it.

A contribution up to 1500 euros for those who choose them private schools. But the measure contained in the maneuver is scheduled for 2026 is destined to split the political debate, between those who accuse the government of “hating” public schools and cutting resources, and those who instead welcome the amendment.

Aimed at families with ISEE within 30 thousand eurosthe bonus concerns students who attend a private secondary school or the first two years of a private secondary schoolthat is, middle school or the first two years of high school. Furthermore, the measure, with a spending ceiling of 20 million euros for next year, it will be determined according to inversely proportional brackets to ISEE income.

The opposition’s criticisms and the Ministry’s response

But the reception of this amendment on the part of the opposition is anything but positive. For the M5s senator Barbara Florida “It is inconceivable, it is indecent that on the one hand state schools are being hit so heavily and on the other resources are found.”

“When it comes to financing public schools, the resources for this government are never there, but for private ones they manage to find them”, is also the comment of the M5s group leader in the culture commission of the Senate, Luca Pirondini. The accusation of the 5 Star Movement is that «they come to public school almost 900 million stolen in the coming years.”

And it is, therefore, back and forth with the Ministry of Education which makes it known how the budget law adds approximately 960 million euros to schools. “It’s sad to see that we end up disputing incontrovertible facts”, underline Dal Mim.

The Government’s position and “freedom of choice”

And if the five-star Pirondini claims that «Meloni and Valditara hate public schools», the majority instead comes satisfied with the bonus. It is no coincidence that the Minister of Education and Merit spoke on the topic, Giuseppe Valditara. The approval of the amendment «is the result of a dialogue and close collaboration between the majority forces and the government, constituting the culmination of a battle of freedom carried out by all the centre-right parties for 30 years now.”

For the president of the National Council of We Moderates, Ilaria Cavothe measure of good is «a concrete step towards a real one freedom of educational choice».

The applause of the associations and parents

Also the Italian parents’ movement welcomes the bonus and describes it as “a historic intervention to put an end to discrimination that has persisted for over 25 years”. Applause which also comes from theSuperior Union of Majors of Italy (USMI) and from Federation of Catholic Schoolswhich speaks of a “signal”, specifying however that this is still not enough: “true equality is built with structural interventions».
