The declarations of Michele Catanzaro, group leader of the Democratic Party at the ARS during the political event of the “Ti Amo Sicilia” Study Center in Caltagirone, promoted by the team led by the regional parliamentarian and mayor of Taormina Cateno De Luca, did not go unnoticed – as they could have.
«As group leader of the Democratic Party – said Catanzaro – I am here to reach out and work towards building an alternative. We must clearly say how we imagine Sicily and reiterate that we are alternatives to this regional government. We have nothing to do with this majority that proceeds by approximation and without a real idea of planning. Today we have the duty to give a message of hope to Sicilian men and women, who expect unity, responsibility and the ability not to repeat the mistakes of the past from us. We must find ourselves on the programs, contents and ideas to truly govern Sicily. It’s time to move forward together and take back the government of the Region”, concluded Catanzaro.
In Messina, the statements made by the leader of the Democratic Party to the ARS during De Luca’s convention arouse more than one perplexity, especially in the secretary of the Democratic Party Armando Hyerace: “I use a euphemism because Catanzaro’s words seem to be the result of a vision of politics reduced to a mere sum of percentages. Anyone who thinks in these terms, almost always, has already made a mistake in the calculations from the start. I then wonder what we can really have in common, first of all in terms of values and then political-programmatic, to De Luca: a character who changes his thoughts and positions according to the convenience of the moment and whose level of political reliability is equal to a satellite navigator updated in 2003. Finally, an unsolicited advice to the leader of my party: before launching into declarations of this magnitude, a serious and preventive discussion within the Democratic Party would at least be appropriate help to better clarify ideas, choices and perspectives” concluded Hyerace.
