A piece of land with a building and shares in a shipping company in the Vibo area, with a total value of over 1.6 million euros, were definitively confiscated from an entrepreneur believed to be close to the “Accorinti” mafia gang of Briatico. The provision, issued by the Court of Catanzaro and partially modified by the Court of Appeal, was executed by the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Catanzaro.

The story has its roots in the “Costa Pulita” operation, which revealed the interests of the ‘Ndrangheta in the profitable sector of mini-cruises to the Aeolian Islands.

The investigations, coordinated by the Catanzaro District Attorney’s Office, had reconstructed the role of the “Accorinti” gang, supported by the powerful “Mancuso” clan of Limbadi and Nicotera, in an attempt to control maritime tourism on the Tyrrhenian coast of Vibo through the shipping company attributable to the entrepreneur. The latter had been sentenced by the Court of Vibo Valentia to four years and six months in prison for fraudulent transfer of values, aggravated by the intent to facilitate the gang.

The Fiamme Gialle, during the asset investigations conducted by the Economic-Financial Police Unit – GICO of Catanzaro, had highlighted a notable disproportion between the value of the assets and the income declared by the subject in the period between 2007 and 2011.

According to the investigators, the entrepreneur had long been placed in a context of “qualified danger”, as required by the Anti-Mafia Code (Legislative Decree 159/2011).

Currently, he is also a defendant in the “Cathago Maestrale-Olimpo-Imperium” trial, underway before the Court of Vibo Valentia, for mafia association.
