Last day to sign up for an insurance policy against damage from natural disasters, the so-called Cat Nat policy. In fact, by tomorrow the micro and small businesses in the tourism and catering sectors must adapt and comply.
The deadline also affects activities in the fishing and aquaculture sector. This is what Facile.it recalls in a note which, in collaboration with Italfinance and Finital, took stock of how much it costs to take out these policies.
The analysis highlighted that the annual premiums are far from prohibitive, especially when compared to the benefits. To calculate the costs, Facile.it developed some simulations examining 2 different commercial activities – a restaurant and a hotel – in 3 sample cities: Milan, Rome and Palermo.
For the restaurant business, land worth 10,000 euros, a building worth 500,000 euros with industrial and commercial equipment worth 150,000 euros and systems and machinery worth 150,000 euros were considered; with these characteristics, the annual premium for taking out Cat Nat insurance in Milan starts from 272 euros, a value which becomes 628 euros in Palermo and 776 euros in Rome.
The prices for the hotel rise, by virtue of higher insured values: in this case a land worth 30,000 euros, a property worth 1.5 million euros, equipment worth 200,000 euros and systems and machinery worth 300 thousand euros. The structure located in Milan must budget an annual cost starting from 556 euros, in Rome 835 euros, while in Palermo 2,111 euros.
Prices, as the experts at Facile.it, Italfinance and Finital explain, vary depending on various elements including, for example, the riskiness of the area where the properties in which the companies are based are located, the probability of calamitous events, the vulnerability of the insured assets, the construction characteristics of the property, the type of activity carried out by the company, the location of the property within the building (distance from the ground in number of floors), the insured capital and, last but not least, the commercial and tariff policies of each insurance company.
Facile.it therefore reminds you that although at the moment there are no financial penalties for companies that do not sign up to the policy, those who do not comply with the obligation will not be able to access benefits or public contributions and, in the event of a calamitous event, risk having to independently deal with the damage suffered without being able to count on any compensation from the State.
