Acid rain, far from being in fits and starts, is hitting local politics, due to a “sine die” dualism between the Prime Minister Marco Ambrogio and the Mayor Antonio Barile.
An unseemly spectacle that irritates the entire population. There is no convergence between the two, not even on the color of the sky.
The latest skirmishes took place during the 7-hour assembly the day before yesterday.
By now the bottom has been scraped: «Barile you have to study more!», says Ambrogio in response to a request for revocation of the councilors Caruso, Miliano, Oliverio, Spina Jaconis, according to which «whoever was a candidate for mayor who was defeated in the ballot cannot be president of the Assizes»; Barile’s reply was ready: «I challenge you in everything, and don’t sign yourself as a lawyer if you aren’t one!». It almost borders on physical confrontation. Ambrogio, however, leaves the presidency to deputy Serafina Lepera, when it comes to the Agcom resolution, and counters Francesca Caruso when the councilor declines “”conviction” for having Ambrogio abused his role as councilor after the election campaign was over, with inauguration and interference in offices and so on”.
On the part of the Communications Regulatory Authority, the requirement to publish the unorthodox behavior of the then councilor Ambrogio in the praetorian notice board. The latter is however leader of the 9 councilors (without Marco Gentile with whom there is no convergence), while Barile has 5 councilors on his side (besides the council), without Enzo Sellaro who is increasingly distant from the mayor and fellow councillors. In the Ambrogio-Barile dichotomy, much emphasis is placed on ethics and the superpartes role, which is why “Ambrogio cannot remain president”.
However, the dispute of the 185 “invisibles” is already underway at the beginning of the week, given again in Catanzaro in the office of the Calabrian Labor Councilor, both because the temporary workers must collect 2 months’ wages (500 euros each) and therefore “find” the resources: 185 thousand euros, and because they should be sent back to work. On this Ambrogio was martial, in asking for and obtaining a vote from the Council: 10 in favor from the Ambrogians, and 5 from the Barilian abstentions.
A game of massacre, it will be said, because the Municipality does not have the resources and “called into question” the innocent director of accounting Caterina Secreti, who declared “that she is in difficulty, and in the spirit of humanity as a former precarious worker, she would make an effort to liquidate just one month’s salary”.
A forced cash advance, therefore, while the executive would like to “complete the process, without demagoguery”. But that’s not all. Because the specter of the 2025 financial statement is now upon us. With Ambrogio and his large group ready to vote on the one drawn up last May; while they will be against voting for what the Barile executive is still working on, which has approximately 10 million in debt. A match that will almost certainly lead to “everyone goes home” and new elections.
