The proposal to name a street after Silvio Berlusconi did not pass to the Municipality of Vibo Valentia. The initiative, promoted by a Forza Italia councilor, Lorenzo Lombardo, was not approved due to the dissenting position of a councilor from the same party, Angela Ierfonethe vote against which determined, in the Urban Planning Commission, a situation of parity, i.e. half of the members in favor and half against, determining the need for the proposal to be re-advanced.

Councilor Lombardo justified his proposal by asking for a exception to the legislation which does not allow the naming of a street after a person before ten years have passed since his deathin consideration of “the undoubted contribution that Silvio Berlusconi has given to the country both from an entrepreneurial and political point of view”. In the city and in the municipality the controversy over what has happened, especially among the centre-right forces, is burning hot. Hope, this point, which is registered within the centre-right, which, among other things, is the majority in the institution, with the mayor, Maria Limardo which is supported by Forza Italia, is that the proposal to name a street after Berlusconi passes, when it is re-presented, to a second vote.
