It’s almost time for completion now, a 140 years from the placing of the first stone, of Sagrada Familia Of Barcelonaafter the construction of the four towers of the evangelists Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, on which the last sculptural pieces were placed, reports La Vanguardia.
A mass is scheduled for November 12th to mark the inauguration of the four towers, which will remain illuminated until Christmas. We learn this from a note from the Junta Constructore of the Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Familia, which supervises the creation of Antoni Gaudì’s masterpiece, declared a universal heritage by UNESCO. They have been crowned in recent days by the four winged figures of the tetramorphs, the work of the sculptor Xavier Medina-Campeny.
Only the fifth tower is missing, the central and tallest one, dedicated to Jesus, which the foundation plans to finish by 2026on the centenary of the death of the brilliant Catalan architect.
