The thriller arrives in MessinaPhobia” (Undicidue3 production), the director’s debut feature film Antonio AbbateThat Thursday 26 October at 8.20pm will be presented to the Apollo multiplex.
It’s about the first screening of this film in Sicily which tells the story of Chiara, who returns to the family farmhouse after many years, together with her friend Michela. An obscure incident had pushed her to leave, but now the old grudges finally seem to have been overcome. During the night, however, Michela disappears. Chiara asks her family for help: “Who is Michela?”, they reply. The girl had had dinner with them, yet everyone says they have never seen her, Chiara is the only one who remembers her.
The evening will open with a greeting to the audience present in the room by the director Abbate and the actor from Messina Eugenio Papalia who, in this film, has the role of co-protagonist.
A return to his hometown for Papalia, who declares: “Phobia was an intense test. In general, dealing with the topic of mental health is never easy and the drama of this story is its spokesperson. The work on my character “forced” me to look, search and imagine the darkest and weakest sides of the human soul. To what extent can we predict the consequences of our actions? In this sense, Antonio Abbate’s help was invaluable and I can’t wait to show the film in my Messina for this Sicilian premiere.”
At the end of the screening, it will be possible to dialogue with the director and the actor.
