A serious road accident occurred around 7pm in Nicotera Marina. Two young people, both residents of the Tyrrhenian town – one originally from Rosarno – were injured after falling independently on their scooter. The Tropea 118 team intervened promptly on site and reached the accident site in just a few minutes. Upon arrival, the medics found the two boys on the ground, in serious conditions: one had a fractured femur with profuse bleeding, while the other suffered a serious head injury. While the medical team provided first aid to stabilize the injured, the driver promptly used the fire extinguisher supplied with the ambulance to put out the flames that broke out from the scooter, thus avoiding even more serious consequences.
Given the seriousness of the situation, a second non-medical ambulance from Polistena was also activated. After the first stabilization maneuvers, the two young people were transported under code red. The 16-year-old with head trauma was transferred to the GOM by air ambulance after being intubated.
