The activity of the municipal administration of Cosenza continues on the front of urban decoration, environmental protection and the fight against degradation. Despite the contemporary commitment linked to the numerous events of regional and national importance hosted in the city, the Municipal Police continued to guarantee constant control of the territory.

In recent days, some abandoned cars have been removed, interventions have been carried out to capture stray dogs and checks have been made on various reports relating to the abandonment of waste. Furthermore, following a report, two garages in Via Asmara occupied by homeless people were cleared out, with the simultaneous involvement of social services.

Two complaints for abandonment of waste and new cameras

In terms of the repression of environmental crimes, two complaints for waste abandonment were sent to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Video surveillance cameras will also be reinstalled on Tuesday to further strengthen prevention and control activities.

At the same time, the work of the competent sector continues, engaged in checks on the correct disposal of waste and in the so-called “decorum rounds”, activated to combat the phenomenon of abandonment and micro-landfills.

Franz Caruso: «Cosenza has changed radically»

Mayor Franz Caruso claims the results achieved over the last few years.

«In these four years – underlines Mayor Franz Caruso – the work carried out has radically changed the situation of the city. We have eliminated numerous open-air landfills which for years have also disfigured central and symbolic areas of Cosenza. Much has been done, but we are not yet at the level we desire and that the people of Cosenza deserve. This is why we continue to work every day, with targeted checks, interventions and investments.”

New interventions in Piazza Bilotti and for separate waste collection

Alongside activities to combat degradation, the municipal administration continues to invest in the redevelopment of urban spaces. The ongoing interventions include the installation of the “Isola Harris” street furniture platform in Piazza Bilotti and the strengthening of the equipment for separate waste collection, with new bins and computerized eco-islands.

«We are strengthening the separate waste collection system with modern and technologically advanced tools that can support citizens and further improve services – concludes Franz Caruso -. The Municipality is doing as much as possible, but the collaboration of citizens remains fundamental. Urban decorum and environmental protection are a shared responsibility that requires everyone’s commitment.”
