In recent months Vibo Valentia has been shaken by numerous sightings of wild boars both in peripheral areas and in the city heart, with episodes that arouse growing alarm among the residents.
The wild boars wander undisturbed in many areas of the city, both in the center and in the suburbs: from the municipal villa, to the historic center, from Piazza Municipio, up to the hospital.
Lately, the wild boars have also been sighted on the southern suburbs of the city. “We are invaded with wild boars – underlines a resident in the area via Domenico Antonio Basile – and in the evening you cannot even go out with the dogs to take a walk even on foot. The institutions intervene as soon as possible because the situation begins to be really worrying”.
Urgent solutions are needed
Citizens ask for concrete interventions: intensify controls, install fences in strategic points – such as hospitals, parks and residential areas – and raise awareness of the community to reduce the waste exposed. Only in this way can we restore safety and serenity in the city.
