The budget forecast had passed, not even twenty-four hours earlier, under the gauntlet of insufficient numbers in the Chamber. And then, the president of the Province Corrado L’Andolina thought about opening… consultations. And within a few hours he arrived at an initial conclusion which without a shadow of a doubt risks representing a further double earthquake, both in the centre-right, Forza Italia side (a party which until the day before yesterday supported the head of the administration despite without much enthusiasm), both in the centre-left, Democratic Party side.
And because a (now former) elected member of the Democratic Party, Nicola La Sorbamember of the civic group “Democrats and Progressists”, an expression of the Dems, yesterday decided to provide support to the main tenant of the former Enel building, only to be immediately rejected by his own party which immediately took steps to remove him, branding him as a “transformer and self-referential.” In the absence of the provincial leaders of the Democratic Party, it was the Calabrian contact person for local authorities who took pen to paper, on behalf of the regional secretary Nicola Irto Salvatore Monaco: «The news that the provincial councilor La Sorba has accepted the position of vice president of the Province undermines, at the root – he began – his belonging to our political community, sanctioning his automatic exit. There is only – explain the Dem leaders – the consistent availability of every administrator registered with the Democratic Party, in all the Municipalities of the province of Vibo Valentia, to contribute to strengthening the alternative alignment to the centre-right, without reservations or hesitations, avoiding any transformative and self-referential temptation” .
Therefore, the same La Sorba was expelled who, not even 24 hours earlier, had signed a document asking the president to “reverse the course”, or, otherwise, to “evaluate possible resignation”. Apparently, very little was enough to satisfy him and convince him to retrace his steps! At this point, it remains to be understood whether this move is enough for the head of the Administration to bring home the favorable vote of the majority of those elected on November 5th, when the budget forecast will return to the Chamber.
